Jelly-Roll Heaven

Awww Jelly-Rolls… don’t you just love them?  They are such a versatile dessert in my opinion.  The ingredients can be so simple or slightly complicated, but whatever you choose, however you decorate them, they can be quite awesome. I have made many a jelly-rolls and they are one of my favorites because you can just about make any flavor and fill them with whatever you want. Possibilities are endless and they are the perfect treat for your holiday (or any day) dessert table. Just saying….

My Black Forest Jelly Roulé complete with Kirsch soaked sour cherries and dark chocolate fans (or my attempt at making fans, hahaha) …Magnifique!

Rice Krispies Treats

A long time favorite, Rice Krispy Treats with a twist.  I added peanut butter and drizzled dark chocolate over top of bars once they cooled.  Easy and fast to make.  Sliced them up, wrapped them each tightly with plastic wrap.  Makes a quick snack on the go.

Pavlova Hearts

My first attempt at Pavlova was a success!  Usually made as one mound of meringue that is baked, crispy on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside.  I piped out heart shaped forms for individual desserts.  Topped with whipped cream and an assortment of fresh fruit and just a drizzle of passion fruit. Next time I will tint the meringue.  They turned out great!  Pavlova hearts were just perfect for my elegant dessert table.

Dreamy Creamy Cheesecake

Dreamy creamy cheesecake….topped with just made caramel sauce and mini Reeses Pieces Cups.  The cold cheesecake, hot caramel and chocolate/peanut butter mix, oh yum, just melts in your mouth!  🙂

Just Baked

Tried out a few new things…  posting them here and on my instagram (LINDA.VS) and as always my facebook page ( https://www.facebook.com/Village-Sweets-464749556939290/)

The pudding cups would be sooo cool for your Easter Dessert table   😀    My pudding cups had bits of Angel food cake. Flavors consisted of:  1)  Chocolate with a toasted marshmallow cap.   2) Coconut cream with a meringue cap (lightly toasted).   3) Banana cream with a whipped cream topping and sliced bananas.   4) Custard and whipped topping (in pretty pastel cups and saucers).   I think the possibilities are endless…

I also baked a delicious Applesauce Cake drizzled with caramel sauce (My applesauce and caramel sauce will soon be available for purchase at my Etsy shop village sweets, woohoo!).

Happy Baking everyone!

Leopard & Bling

All the drama a Diva could ask for…Leopard & Bling was the theme for this cake made for Lauren.  A Vanilla Cake with Swiss Meringue Buttercream and a Mocha Cream Filling between layers.  A hand painted Leopard print in tan’s blacks and a shiny gold.  I made this look like a pretty package topped off with black fondant ribbon and a gumpaste black bow and to add that final touch some edible sparkly gems!  Purrrrfect dahling!

Minions and Hockey

Created a Despicable Me Minion cake for a Minion & hockey lover, a Montreal Habs hockey lover at that!  At least she has good taste lol!  First time making a minion, hopefully won’t be the last.  They are so adorable, I just wanted to hug him, but I guess that would not be such a good idea, so I guess you could say I just wanted to EAT him!

Vanilla cake with a Mocha Cream Filling and a Mocha Cream Frosting, entirely covered in fondant.

Candy Cane Lollipops

First post for 2015!   !! HaPpY NeW YeAr  from Village Sweets !!

Haven’t had much time for blogging…Oooops!

Christmas is over (already!) and after all the buches, the cakes, the cookies, I think one of my favorite things was making the Candy Cane Lollipops.  I was asked to donate some sweets for a fund raiser (The Children’s Wish Foundation) and I happily agreed, and decided to make some colorful red and green candied popcorn in cello bags with festive Christmas ribbon.  I also made these Candy Cane Lollipops in Chocolate and White Chocolate.  In my haste to finish things on time, I forgot my camera for the popcorn, but I did get a picture of the lollipops.
