Village Sweets created their first “Make-Up” cake… woohoooo! First the cake, a vanilla cake with a Dulce de Leche filling plus a whipped cream filling and I frosted the cake with a smooth Vanilla Butter Cream frosting and topped it all off with a Pretty Pink Fondant covering. A quilted look with silver Dragées just made it gorgeous, some gum paste make up accessories and voilà this cake was ready to get eaten!
A Blue Christening cake for Olivier Ismael Edmond for his special day! Village Sweets baked a 4 layer White Cake filled with Mocha Cream and is frosted in our delicious Swiss Butter-cream Icing and covered in a blue Fondant. Enjoy your wonderful day and thank you for choosing Village Sweets !

Have you heard of “Game of Thrones”, okay I know….WHO the heck hasn’t. I must admit, I am an absolute fan of the tv series. I cannot wait for Sunday (April 6, 2014) to get here so I can just sit and watch the must anticipated season 4 Game of Thrones. Everywhere I look is Game of Thrones paraphenalia, and I LUVVV it! So I was more then eager to start this next project in the baking studio… A Game of Thrones “Iron Throne” cake, of course I added a little extra, like the RED leaves from the Weirwood tree and three Dragon Eggs. This cake better get eaten quickly before those eggs hatch!

Monday was “Train Cake” day. Another theme cake for Village Sweets. The plan was carefully thought out and all the little details were fashioned out of gum paste. The cake flavor was chocolate and it was frosted with a vanilla buttercream. We made the train in 3 cake pieces which were all covered with fondant. We think it turned out pretty great for our first “Train Cake”. (A little note, this cake was made with Splenda rather than the traditional white sugar). Thank you Caroline!
Village Sweets will soon be coming to YOUTUBE….Watch for us!!

This cake was fashioned in “3” and a “0” for a woman who is turning, you got it, 30! tons of big roses in soft pink decorated both the numbers and a pennant banner was something different for the mention of the birthday girl. Deep delicious and moist chocolate cake with butter-cream frosting, and just a few pearlesscent beads (edible) to add a little special detail to the cake. We think, so Pretty in Pink! Bonne Fête Wilnie !!
Another day of baking…This time a dream cake for a Metal Head. Although the gum-paste fist should have dried for a longer period of time, the cake turned out awesome. This was a rush order and my daughter loved it! Who wouldn’t want a fiery pit cake from hell? Hmmmm
White cake with a Cherry Whipped Cream Filling. A Vanilla Buttercream Frosting topped with Fondant. Gum Paste Fist and drumsticks.
Just finished a cake for a girl’s Sweet 16 Birthday. She is an artist, so a funky artsy style cake was the perfect theme. Her favorite color is Pink, so beautiful colors of pink Fondant and frosting were used for the details of this luscious cake! The perfect embellishments were gum paste paintbrushes, an easel (not all edible but kitchen grade), a paint board and a canvas with the birthday girl’s b-day announcement. Thank you Micheal and HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANTONIA!!

Feels like Fall has definitely arrived. A little chilly this morning, and seeing I was up very early this morning and the clouds were looming, I figured it was the perfect day for some baking. It was a day for Village Sweets to work in the test kitchen and come up with a few frostings that are not sweet but have definite taste. Buttercream is usually our choice, made of 100% good old fashioned butter, not the artificial stuff. But it is still on the sweet side. So the work begins…
7 hours later… I made some vanilla cupcakes, strawberry cupcakes and mocha cupcakes. I prepared 2 different buttercreams, a swiss style and a cooked style. I love them both. They are light, and airy and best of all THEY AREN’T TOO SWEET! DELISH!

Cute “Birthday” Cake or Theme Cake idea from WILTON. I just love the fish on top of the cake! Ideas for decorating the cake can be endless. I came up with some “Starfish” style swirls on the sides of the cake for a slight change, rather than just dots. An under the sea theme party would make a great child’s birthday.
Cake is a vanilla and chocolate marble. I will post a picture of a slice when I am ready to cut it! I can’t wait.
