Yuletide logs or here in Québec, “Bûche de Noël” are an absolute tradition in my family. I have made them every year now for quite some time. I am most fond of the Vanilla cake with Mocha filling and a deep Chocolate frosting. I think it’s really my favorite, especially if you like coffee. I now bake a delicious Vanilla cake with a “Tutti-Frutti” filling (cherries and peaches, yummm!) with a Vanilla-Almond frosting and delectable White-Coconut Chocolate bark, oh my I can’t wait to eat it!!
Village Sweets has our Specialty Yuletide Logs (Bûche de Noël) on our Menu for ordering in case anyone is interested…

Village Sweets worked on a special theme cake this week. An all edible Skateboard for Gab. After figuring out the design, we were ready to create a cool looking skateboard complete with wheels and a ramp. We added a checkerboard, flames and skull design to the top of the board. This skateboard was made of a Red Velvet cake with a Vanilla Butter-cream frosting covered in a cherry red fondant (Gab’s favorite color). The ramp, also made with the red velvet cake and the wheels were fashioned out of Rice Krispie’s.
Gab, hope you enjoyed your cake and HaPpY BiRtHdAy!!
Just finished a cake for a girl’s Sweet 16 Birthday. She is an artist, so a funky artsy style cake was the perfect theme. Her favorite color is Pink, so beautiful colors of pink Fondant and frosting were used for the details of this luscious cake! The perfect embellishments were gum paste paintbrushes, an easel (not all edible but kitchen grade), a paint board and a canvas with the birthday girl’s b-day announcement. Thank you Micheal and HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANTONIA!!
Even though this cake took quite some time to create, it was loads of fun making all the intricate edible details. Red Velvet was the choice of cake flavor with and outside frosting of Vanilla Buttercream and an inside filling of Cream Cheese Frosting, then the cake was covered in the creamy white and blue colors of the Volkswagon bus in Fondant. Cool colored flowers and of course a peace sign screams hippie style with a tye-dye surfboard atop the van…
Another Birthday cake done! Of course in Red Velvet.. seems to be a very popular flavor. Happy Birthday Mrs. S. 🙂
Briar Roses are just beautiful. Adding them to this cake has made it an elegant and simple look. All these roses were made of gum-paste and brushed with a little edible petal dust. I also included some Stephanotis flowers for some added drama. I finished the cake with an edging of small and medium size beading. I think it turned out quite nicely. It’s been out too long and it’s mellllllltingggg… :O So annoying when the weather just does not want to co-operate!
Below is a picture of a Stargazer Lily that I just completed, which has also been fashioned with gum-paste and painted with some edible petal dust. Just thought I would add it the photos, lol.
